Major Changes at Tersteeg’s Holiday Market in 2009
Redwood Falls, MN – In 2009, Tersteeg’s Holiday Market in Redwood Falls undertook several major equipment upgrades. Tersteeg’s designed these upgrades to improve the customer’s shopping experience while reducing energy costs. They replaced several open-air freezer cases with closed-door units utilizing new LED lighting; retrofitted 100 watt incandescent bulbs with 23 watt compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs); upgraded the canopy lights over the gas station pumps; and added doors to their reach-in dairy case allowing them to remove a five horsepower refrigeration compressor.
Altogether, Tersteeg’s is saving over $4,700 each year by installing this energy efficient equipment. Their investment will also eliminate 117 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) from being emitted into the atmosphere which is the equivalent of planting 36 acres of trees. As a result of their effort, Redwood Falls Public Utilities provided Tersteeg’s with $3,724 in electric rebates.
